The North Red Deer River Water Services Commission is a regional commission established in accordance with the Municipal Government Act and the North Red Deer River Water Services Commission Regulation. The Commission was established in 2004.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Commission to transport potable water from the City of Red Deer via a 50 km transmission line to municipal commission members.  The member municipalities include the Town of Ponoka, the City of Lacombe, the Town of Blackfalds, Lacombe County and Ponoka County.

The Commission first began operations supplying water to its member municipalities in the summer of 2006 and today supplies over 2.8 million cubic metres of drinking water.

Commission Board Members

The Commission is governed by a five member Board with representatives appointed by each of its member municipalities.  The Chair and Vice-Chair of the Commission are elected annually by the Board Members.

ADMINISTRATION:

​The day to day operations of the Commission are administered by Jordan Thompson, Commission Manager.  The day to day operations of the waterline are contracted to the City of Lacombe.
